1. What advice would you give to a student starting their interactive resume project?

If I were to give advice to a student, I would say, DON’T SLACK!!! You may think that the project is a school year long project. But then you see that a school year may travel faster than you thought. It’s the little things that can get to you so you need to bring you’re A game %110 of the time before its too late and your behind with a week to go.

2. What would you add or remove from the interactive resume project?

If I were to change anything about the project, It would be to update and “sheen” the characters a little more. I relized that I needed to add some dept to the characters to make them look more professional, so I can correct it and make my characters look better

3. What would you change about the capstone project?

I kinda liked the capstone project but I looked at others projects and I saw that I could have picked a better, more Debatable subject. But the overall project that I made was better than what I thought.

4. What did you learn about yourself as an interactive media designer over the past two years?

Change is everything… I came into the school wanting to be a 3-D designer, learn about video gaming and so on. Several years, a couple of conflicts and inspirations later, I leave the school wanting to be about Animation and Flash Designing. I also loved working with Audio and Video editing projects. All that time can really change a person.

5. Do you feel that your experience in IMD will help you in the future?

I believe that is the career I was looking for. I love working and creating new things. I feel that The Interactive Media Design program renew my love of creating and thinking of new ideas.

today, i attempted to fix the capstone part of the resume. I thought the text was too bland and boring to read. besides, its a slideshow, not a read along. (how gullible am i?!) If they want a slideshow, then by george im givin them a slideshow they soon wont forget!

4 days to go...

Finally put in the pieces of the Capstone that i needed to put in. and now i have to do one more thing, and that is to figure out the sound buttons. Fitzer really helped me out today, but i got a little while more to go before i get everything said and done.

what i need to finish is that i need to add sound, properly. and then fill in a slot in my portfolio.

other that that, i think im over and done with this. the thing is, i need to put the sound in right! so i really to get Fitzer to help me out! tomorrow is a day i hope to get the sounds in and ready

Very frustrating, very complicated day for me here to figure this out. Who knew Audio would be so hard to properly post in...

I attempted to post my audio in one of my clips the right way, but so far, no such luck. So i need to try to post my audio inside a button instead of the movie clip. hopefully i can get newer, better VO's this weekend so that i can post them up as well. see ya monday!

This Screenshot pretty much summons up what i have done today... and then some!

Today was the day i finished and started working the preloader! thank you Fitz! I originally had the word awesome being filled in from the outline only, but i though... nah! it looks dull and not interesting at all. Then I went to the preloader, and redid everything from scratch, and now its just plain sweet! it looks like my drawing and everything. So in a span of 5 school days, my project went from "ill never get it organized and done on time" to "no prob, i can totally handle this!" Im really excited to finally put in the audio in the right way and to finish up this piece of work! i might even put it up on Newgrounds and show it off to the world! LOL!

Today, we didnt get as much time as i thought in here, but oh well. i wanted to construct better looking buttons to put in the new main page. examples shown here.

Also, Mr. fitzer also explained to us that we need to make a flash slideshow to go along with our capstone. honestly saying, im fearing over this. how am i going to cooperate my project about Adobe systems into a flash animation that has some wild and crazy handrawn animations? I hope to figure this out tonight.

today was another clean up day on my resume, and i might add that it looks so much better now!

i also got to work on a new Intro video to really bring out the action in this project. i plan to get some audio tonight for the intro, which will involve searching for the proper song... to google!!!

Plus, i want to recreate the MM page to look more outgoing. this example is a basic idea of what i want to do. Im also going to make full body recreations of all my characters tonight and use those as buttons to the correct enviroments.

Today, we spent a boatload of time to work on anything in the lab. so what better way to work than on working on the resumes?

Today i needed to redo the animations and place them into seperate movie clips so they look organized and not all over the place! i did so and let me say that everything looks so much better!!! also i added "skip video" buttons to all my animations, because i realized that many people dont care about the animations, or the animations might be a little too long, so i made the buttons to skip the introduction and get right to the goods.

also, i plan to make a new introduction, my old one seems kinda bleak and boring. so i plan to make it more actiony and make the main menu so much more detailish and stylish in a way thats also practical! its a tough job, but i got what it takes!

sorry bout not posting earlyer... i was so caught up on work that i didnt see that it was time to go!

What i did today during interactive resumes was work more on the skechs that im posting on the resume part. although i didnt get enough time to work on these. i say i got the basic part done. I believe that with a little more work, the resume will look nice!

today during our time, i finally put some pics up on the resume and they look awesome!

I had to work through photoshop to make some custom buttons to represent the works that I have placed in the portfolio. The buttons are just pieces of the picture that if you click on the guitar, you get the guitar picture. if you click the eye, you get this weird O-Face looking at you. and so on and so forth. right now its just those 2 pictures but ill get more posted soon.

other than that, im gonna make a self portrait of myself in flash to build into the bio page.

I continued to create more and more of my resume today to make it more creative rather than bare. I also desided to make a quick bio page about the creator, myself, and i also fixed several links that were all screwed up. my capstone page went to my summery, my summery to the resume, and resume to capstone. it was crazy!

anyway, i got it fixed and updated, thats the important thing!

today is a lucky break for me, I finally got my Resume Page over and done! all i needed to go with it today was a centerpiece to go with my infomation. and so, i created another illustration to go with it. i had a sketch done over the weekend but then i never scanned it or even brought the drawing book to school. so i redid it in class today. making my same illustration in flash was so much easier and better looking then drawing it on paper and then redoing it in flash. Amen to that!

I needed to put in some important details today in resume. so Today, i finnaly put some infomation into the Summary part of the project as well as some title boxes on where the Portfolio pieces should be. Its gonna be designed and well made later on when i get done with the pieces on the portfolio. I forgot to put my pieces onto my flash drive last night, but ill take care of it later! What i really need to do now, is to focus on the Preloader and to put the code in.

and yes, this quick doodle i want in my easter egg!

Today during our long rotations, I desided to start to work on interactive resume, but then I saw that Flickr was blocked........ AAAAHHHH!!!!

so instead Im desided to draw out my portfolio piece. I fixed up my first piece which will be quite a doozy when shared with the class. Also, i made a piece of photoshoping work i did at home.

I wanna give my apologies to Mr. Fitzer for not being able to turn in my summary.

I was gonna post it last night on my laptop, but unfortinuly, the laptop could not read the word document properly and it could not type any new infomation last night. Then i tryed the family computer, but we dont own word on the computer so i was screwed last night.

But i have it done now! so here it is!

All my life I always had unique and creative ideas, from making up action heroes in kindergarden to today, I’ve been thinking on how to make things better or coming up with new ideas for everyone else. Although some might have been duds, I always think of new things and never try keeping old ideas most of the time. My high school life has given me another chance to relive my childhood through the magic of acting and theatre. I don’t know what I would do if it weren’t for those special first two years of high school. Then I came across the Interactive Media Design at the South-Western Career Academy and that changed my view of a possible career. That’s why I want to go to college and study more into the field of technology I’m interested in. People spend big money here, and it combines my creative genius with my obsession of modern technological advances. I believe that ITT would give me the benefit of extending my creative genes and further my quest to become the best person that I can be!

Today, Fitzer wanted us to work on our summerys for the resume, so that is what i did. and dont worry, i didnt give away too much infomation about myself. Thats just setting me up for Identity Theft!

It was pretty hard to determine what was to go in the resume and what was gonna go away. I have it done though, but i dont have it on my resume yet, something i will correct and do tomorrow.

happy march everyone! cant wait to get out of this winter drought!

anyway, today, i did some more doodles on the resumes and gave Awe. Libre some Depth to his animations. however, i couldnt find any screens of what animation i wanted. I hope to find one tonight when i review some pics on Photobucket. They have more decent pictures than Flickr will. aside from that, i also messed with some sounds and attempted to fix Awe. Gang's voice... it cannot be fixed, so i wanna do it again tonight.

Over the past couple of days, Mr. Fitzer has been showing us some new skills in flash, that include stoptimers, and Random number generators. I believe it might help make my interactive resume better in a way. Although I never planned to use any of that stuff in there, let alone ever use that stuff, I think it would make into an awesome kind of game. I remember last year which we made up our poker games and all we did was push buttons to make random numbers. If I could, I could make a bonus game into my resume to show off my skills in the flash world. Much similar to the Poker game we did last year.
If not that, I wanna try to make up a “slap happy” kind of game we were demonstrated in class today. And I know the perfect subject to create it with! I have a friend at CCHS who is a goofy guy who likes to use the term “cheekslap” all the time. Well, I plan to turn his catch phrase into a game. I will get a picture of his head and we can see how hard we slap it. Much like the popular game, spank the monkey, which ive never played but I bet it involves monkeys.
But seriously, I believe these lessons will benefit me in the end of making these resumes. I wanna make this the best thing ever, and I believe these tools will help out.

today, we worked with buttons and shapes. I continued to working towards just drawing and i have to admit, im getting faster with this. I took half the time drawing this guy in the white and filling in was easy... just white, due to his shocked state.

the buttons part was just a review from last year. the Variables part and everything. nothing too special.

Today was a shortened day in class so i just made more character movements and started working on portfolio pieces for the resume. I also desided to name a unknown mystery character ive created calling him "the creator". He is the guy with the hat and Blue and white shirt. He also kinda looks familiar...

anyway, i have a pic at home i wanna put into the resume that would be a nice piece. i minipulated a picture of yours truly playing some guitar, (yes i do play guitar, just not as good as Walters or Nate or Jon) and i edited it using my copy of Photoshop... yes.

Today was a preloader day for me in the wonderful world of Interactive resume time. I needed to make a legit bar that will allowed the viewers to wait while i loaded space for my resume. Its nothing fancy, just a color fill in towards the word AWESOME. thats my plan i wanna stick by it.

Also, i updated my VO's from yesterday and i redid the Awesome Rebel Background to look much more like mountains, rather than blobs of red and grey flying by. I wanted to work on other stuff, but i wont have much time so ill just finish what i needed finished by the end of the week.

Well, i sure had a nice presidents day weekend. but now its back to business.

During our time working on interactive resumes, i need to work on the sounds and the voice recordings. i think i should try out the new microphone i bought at home and test it on the laptop i got for my B-day. i also have a plan on what to do with the Awesome Rebel Motorcycle sound effects, I plan to use a ROM of a motorcycle game i have and capture the sound from there. The sound is Superb, and its will definatly help with the resume.

well, today, i worked on my resume. you think it might be boring right now... but its never gets boring when you think positive!!!

today, i continued to further create animations towards both my resume, and my easter egg bonus. and to show what im doing, im posting a prototype picture to show off how exciting its gonna be... i might even do advertising to further develop my student buisness!

didnt do the VO's yet but when i can... i will!

2/9/2009 (welcome back)

well, its been a month since i posted anything on my Awesome blog. a lots has changed but its now time to revert back to work with my AWESOME resume...

on my first day back, i created legs for my Awesome rebel character, and created his animations on the Awesome Rebel part. What he will do is ride his bike in and out of the scene... simple enough... no. you have to watch it to believe it when i say... AWESOME...

also, i started creating my easter egg for the project... ill leave you at that.

and finally, i wanna re-do my VO's for the resume. i figured out during break that its better quality if you use a USB microphone to record your voice rather than a camera... much better... so i wanna recreate the VO's Tonight for the resume.
